Ikiré Jones debuts first full collection with a short film detailing the Nigerian and Columbian heritages of the founders, designers and tailors

Ikiré Jones is a Philadelphia-based apparel company, founded by designer and creative director Walé Oyéjidé and tailor Sam Hubler. The duo describes the brand as marrying "the romance of Classic art with the vibrance of West African culture."

In this short film “History & Rebellion: The Take of IkirĂ© Jones”, directed by New York-based Jason Harper, OyĂ©jidĂ© and Hubler explain how their respective heritages (Nigerian and Columbian) and their experiences as immigrants to the United States inform their work, and inspire the textures and shapes of the product.

The Spring/Summer 2016 collection, “
& Other Stories By Our Stolen Children”, sticks close to the IkirĂ© Jones aesthetic, combining bold patterns and African wax print cloth with classic European-cut clothing and European art with African subjects.
