Kacper Pietrzykowski studied, exercised and shared his passion to design in USA, Netherlands, Italy and Poland. Prior to his graduation, he spent a year at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s DesignLab, where he was developing future experiences by merging the cutting edge technologies and design methodology.
He exercised the experience-centered design approach while developing his master thesis project named IDA - a concept blood glucose meter for people with diabetes. He build his empathy towards the life with diabetes both through his research, and personal experience. He shares, that the biggest inspiration for this project was his sister who lives with Type 1 diabetes since early childhood.
The project seeks to emphasise the importance of including psychological aspect of chronic disease and aiming at mitigating them through sensible interventions and experience design. IDA intents to embody this by combining the state of the art technology and thoughtful two stage feedback method that acknowledges the stress connected with the blood glucose test.
