Award-winning costume designer and women's rights icon.

A costume designer for film and television, Ane Crabtree made an immediate and lasting impression when she created the look for The Sopranos original HBO pilot, The Westworld Series Season One, Luck for HBO, Masters of Sex for Showtime, and The Handmaid’s Tale for Hulu, Seasons One and Two.

Born in South Dakota and raised in Kentucky, Ane studied fine arts and Shakespeare at Harlaxton College in Lincolnshire, England and fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

Her singular vision has her working well with a wide range of directors and producers, including Warren Littlefield, Mimi Leder, Michael Apted, Michael Mann, David Milch, and Bruce Miller. She is known for her personal touch with actors such as Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Thandie Newton, Ann Dowd, Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Dustin Hoffman, Viola Davis, Morgan Freeman, Antonio Banderas, Lizzy Caplan, and Michael Sheen.

Ane designed Seasons One and Two for The Handmaid’s Tale starring Elizabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, and Samira Wiley. Her recent work includes the Dee Rees and Cassian Elwes follow up film to Mudbound, The Last Thing He Wanted, and the Scottfree/FOX pilot for The Passage. She has been nominated for a Costume Design Guild Award for PanAm (2012), Masters of Sex (2015), and Westworld (2016), and won for The Handmaid’s Tale (2017).

Her films include the Netflix produced The Last Thing He Wanted, the Sundance premiering Lila & Eve and Please Give, the Tribeca Film Festival premiering Every Day, and The Code. She will soon begin work on “Utopia Road” starring Anjelica Houston, Rebecca Hall, and Ewan McGregor, as costume designer and
producer.
Ane’s most recent achievement is being Emmy nominated for The Handmaid’s Tale Season One and Two.
