Rhys Jones recently graduated from Carleton University School of Industrial design and is now based in New York City. During his degree he studied for a semester at the University of Monash Melbourne, widening his horizons. He was also elected to the position of president of the Carleton Industrial Design Student Association and organised various events for the students of the school. Jones’ final thesis won a Rocket award for user experience. He was also awarded the School of Industrial Design’s Provost Scholar award for health care product design and the George A. Lynn Memorial Scholarship for excellence in the design of medical equipment.
Jones strives to make excellent products that are sustainable and socially responsible. He believes that all products developed in the future should be tailored for human diversity and universal design. He thrives in team environments, which is evidenced by his past and current work at Humanscale. Whilst in New York, Jones relished the opportunity to collaborate with Herman Miller in designing medical furniture in Miller’s final thesis.
Jones is currently working and at Humanscale in the design department.
